To connect locally (at the database server) you only have to type:

To connect from a networked envorinment, you'll have to specify the following args:

user/pw @ host : listener_port / SID

Listener control tools:

[oracle@curso admin]$ . oraenv
ORACLE_SID = [+ASM] ?

Oracle listener naming methods:

Oracle could delegate its listener control by one of the following methods:

  • EZ connect (tcp/ip)
  • tnsnames.ora or local naming.
  • LDAP, active Directory, etc.
  • External other NS
